Winchester Bat Care Workshop

posted 2 Jun 2013, 05:42 by Mark Rose
A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Bat Care Workshop in Winchester on Sunday 26th May!

The day was led by Erika Dahlberg of Winchester Bat Care. Erika kicked things off with a presentation introducing the topic of bat care in the UK, covering background on the Bat Conservation Trust and topics such as rabies. We then had a meet and greet session with refreshments, followed by a presentation by HBG's Phil May on his experience as a new carer. Bat handling demonstrations were then provided by Anne Cozens, Tracey Joliffe and Mark Rose. After lunch, Erika gave two further presentations, first on species identification and then on the intricacies of bat rescue, care and rehabilitation.

Special thanks go to Erika for organising this successful event, to the National Trust for hosting the event in Winchester City Mill in exchange for Erika to give them a dedicated Bat Talk later this year, and to Phil May for providing some delicious cakes!
