Hi Folks! Please contact chair@bats.hampshire.org.uk for further information about any of the opportunities and we will forward you to the appropriate project leader(s). Please help out if you can!

1.  Assisting with our displays at events, such as shows and fairs.

2.  Assisting with care of injured and orphaned bats. Both carers and ‘ambulance drivers’ are needed.

3.  Surveys to add to our species records for Hampshire. Take your bat detector whenever you go out in the evenings!

4.  National Bat Monitoring Programme (NBMP) surveys, either assisting existing surveyors or doing surveys independently.

5.  HBG Church surveys.

6.  New Forest rare bat species research project: tasks requiring various levels of skill and training.  Counting bats out of roosts, transect surveys, bat box checking, mist netting, radio tracking.

7.  In addition to our main projects, we are often invited to survey nature reserves, private gardens, contribute to Bioblitz events etc, for which volunteers might be needed.

The New Forest Community Wildlife Plans Project, run by the New Forest Land Advice Service needs batworkers to assist with bat surveys and to train local volunteers.
