A Belated Farewell (and Welcome)!

posted 27 May 2013, 11:55 by Mark Rose
Lynne (Dr Lynne Ridler-Wall) retired from the Chair of the Hampshire Bat Group at our AGM in April, and we would like to thank her for her three years of devoted service in this role. She has been hugely active behind the scenes and has kept the committee very well organised and energised. Lynne rapidly got to grips with our diverse membership and activities and proved skilled at liaising and negotiating with other conservation organisations. She realised that our indoor meetings are important social and networking occasions and was able to make them much more fun. She has been the driving force behind several successful funding applications and the updating of our display materials. Another of her many achievements has been in encouraging her husband Tom to step in as our membership secretary, and previously as our temporary treasurer!

Lynne is continuing to make valuable contributions to the Group in such areas as co-ordinating our members’ skills database. Thank you, Lynne!

We would also like to extend great thanks to Nik Knight, who has been elected to take on the role. Lynne will be a tough act to follow, but if anyone is, Nik is up to the challenge! Not really a "Welcome" as such, as Nik is a longstanding member of the bat group, having has sat on the board of trustees for nearly three years as the Committee Treasurer, a position which perfectly suited his diligence and attention to detail. Nik is a retired Head of Biology (on request he will give you a very interesting lesson on anatomy using the skulls on display at the Swanwick Study Centre!) and is also a talented musician.
